It Should Have Been Scout

Your first name was Angel
because of the white patches
on your side
the little girls said it was
because your wings fell off

I named you Scout
after the little girl in
“To Kill a Mockingbird”
I saw you as so grand
so full of grace…

He started calling you
Snappy
because of your actions
and it stuck
You answered to it

Now you guard me
(often too much)
but cuddle with me
when he is gone
Your butt against my leg

And you bark at fears
imagined or real
and I throw the ball
every day at three
or is it four?

The kids think I’m mad
because I ask you- your opinion
on the drapes
But I’m sane enough to realize
The look you give me

…and when you go
as all pets must
and you are a pet
even though I ask your opinion
my heart will be broken.

They're awfully cute when they keep the turds to themselves.

And this is the dog who left the nice little present below?
Still she does look dead cute.

That is lovely.
I love Angel.
I love Scout and To Kill a Mockingbird.
I think you should have stuck to your guns.

I awarded you with a thoughtful blogger award on my page... please drop by when you get a chance, and pick it up.

Best,
Scarlett & Viaggiatore

I didn't much like our dog until he went (a long story) - and then I found I liked him very much.

I am presently going ga-ga over the pics. *squeals*

Ahem. I better wipe the silly grin off my face. Heehee. I love dogs (grew up with a pack of 8-10) and I do fawn over the belligerent (he's small though he's so not aware) monster I keep now.

The thing with names and dogs... Names do evolve. My li'l bully here answers to at least three nicknames. *chuckles*
