1945 Days

There have been one thousand nine hundred and forty five days
since he was diagnosed and treated.

There are that many hairs on my head colored gray
more than that many heart beats
that many stops and starts
that many looks and checks
that many times we have worried
times we have paused to make sure
that his privacy is complete and honored

One thousand nine hundred and forty five days
of working through the process
and never appearing to have done a thing
and sleeping with one ear to the phone
in case we are needed.

one thousand nine hundred and forty five days and
long, sullen nights
praying to God that he will be okay
praying that he will have a good and long
life
praying for our oldest son.

Casual call the other night.
He’s seen his therapist
he’s been released.

There is a God. He answers prayers.
This time it was “YES!”

One thousand nine hundred and forty five nights
and days
with a constant prayer
Of please God help.

Answered.

Sometimes God does answer. I am sure he answers everytime but we just aren't wise enough to realize it.

I think maybe now you could use some prayers of your own. Here's mine.....
